perry - Perry DNA Project Empty Volunteers needed!!!

Post by PerryResearch Sat 09 Feb 2008, 2:12 am

My uncle volunteered for a DNA test, but no one else that descends from James Perry of Perrymount in County Down, Ireland has followed suit and the results don't match anyone elses. I am interested in perhaps helping pay for another volunteer of this family to be tested or other Perry's from Counties Down, Tyrone, Armagh, or Antrim Ireland as they may be related to me. Also, the descendants of Anthony Perry born in County Down. His family moved to Counties Wexford and Wicklow and may be kin. A few members of the family came to America (and had male descendants); John Sr, Swift Jr, & Daniel Perry all lived in Monroe County, VA in the 1770's. My uncle is a descendant of Joseph, son of John Jr. If anyone is interested, please post a reply.

perry - Perry DNA Project Empty From www.perry-dna.org 5/24/09

Post by PerryResearch Thu 18 Jun 2009, 5:36 pm

Dear Perry Project participants,

Linda and I want to update the 'Ancestors' feature on both our primary website (http://www.perry-dna.org) which Linda manages, and the more generic FTDNA Perry webpage http://www.familytreedna.com/public/perry/default.aspx?/publicwebsite.aspx which I manage. So please, would each of you who haven't already done so, send in your Perry paternal line in the format below, copied to us both.

Name of your earliest known Perry ancestor
Date of birth (if known)
Place of birth (if known)
Place of residence and years (if known)
Date of death (if known)
Place of death (if known)
Married? Date?
Wife's name (if known)
Wife's date of birth (if known)
Wife's place of birth (if known)
Wife's date of death (if known)
Wife's place of death (if known)
Children?
Provide their names, DOB and DOD (if known)

Your direct line to your earliest known Perry ancestor. Please include birthdate, deathdate, residence information, wife, etc. if known. Do NOT include Date of Birth if still living.
You -
Your father -
Your grandfather -
Great-grandfather -
Gr-Great-grandfather -
GrGr-Great-grandfather -
GrGrGr-Great-grandfather -
etc.

For those who have one, It would also be helpful to upload your ancestral line gedcom from your personal page. This allows members to make an immediate comparison on the FTDNA site when a match or near match surfaces, then refer to the Ancestors page for more details. The present division of labor arose because the more sophisticated Perry-dna.org site, which can among other things display results from other testing companies, is too high-tech for a non-techie like me to edit. The advantage to this two-site arrangement is that I can arrange new data into subgroups on the FTDNA site as it comes in. Don't worry if your kit number gets a different color code or family subgroup number on the two sites. These groupings and colors change as new data comes in. Always seach for your sample by its unique kit number.

We've had a number of upgrades by participants recently that uncovered new matches, so visit regularly.

Many thanks,

perry - Perry DNA Project Empty FTDNA limited offer of greater than 50% off a 37 marker test

Post by PerryResearch Thu 18 Jun 2009, 5:40 pm

Below is a message from www.perry-dna.org

Dear Project members,

Max Blankfield, vice-president of FTDNA, has emailed project coordinators to announce a special offer on new testing at a much reduced price. If you are femaile and have been delaying having a male Perry father, brother or cousin tested, now is the time to get a 37 marker test at a much reduced (great than 50%) price. The mtDNA test is also part of the package. The promotion ends on 24 June. Please spread the word that this offer is available to other Perry researchers you may have contact with. It could encourage many untested Perrys to join our project.

I have pasted in the gist of Max Blankfield's message below.

"Offer summary:

• Y-DNA37+mtDNA for $119. (The regular project price is $248 – a reduction of more than 50%!!)
• The promotion will begin on June 9, 2009 and will end on June 24, 2009
• Kits ordered in this sale must be paid for by June 30, 2009

This is your new members’ opportunity to skip past the Y-DNA12 and Y-DNA25 tests and get the best Y-DNA Genealogical test on the market in addition to an mtDNA test for an extremely reduced price!

I should also mention that according to one of our competitors’ method of counting markers our 37-marker test could also be called a “41-marker test” as we do
test and report markers 464e, 464f, 464g, and DYS19b. Though we test them, it is very rare that individuals have results for these markers. Therefore, by
our conservative counting method, our competitor's “33-marker test” is actually a “29-marker test.” We mention this to make sure that you understand the difference
between these tests and are able to compare “apples to apples.”

Best regards,

perry - Perry DNA Project Empty From www.perry-dna.org 6/24/09

Post by PerryResearch Thu 25 Jun 2009, 11:55 pm

Hello Perry DNA Project participants,

Max Blankfeld of FTDNA notified project administrators today that the >50% reduced price for a 37 marker yDNA test plus mtDNA has been extended by one week to June 30th. Kits have to be paid for by July 7th, but the sample kit itself can be sent back later. That gives female members time to organise a Perry male cousin, brother, father or uncle for testing. Go to www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Perry&Code=P23778 for details and how to order.
